Elgin Community College (ECC) offers an Intensive English Program (IEP) for anyone who wants to improve their English—whether you’re a prospective college student, international student, professional, or simply want to build stronger communication skills.

This program helps you prepare for college success, advance in your career, and achieve personal growth.

About the Program

  • The program uses a focal skills approach, helping your English improve naturally through practice.

  • You’ll study Listening, Reading, Writing, and Pre-college skills, with optional elective classes to match your goals.

  • Students are assessed every four weeks and can move to the next level as their skills improve.

  • The full-time option is best if you want to learn English quickly.

  • The program meets full-time study requirements for F-1 visa students and is open to other visa holders as well.

Summer Intensive English Program

  • Combines high-quality English learning with cultural experiences.

  • Classes cover listening, reading, speaking, and writing at beginner through advanced levels.
